Font Awesome Free Desktop is the desktop-optimized package of the internet's most popular icon library. This package provides all free icons as OpenType Font (OTF) files, ready to install on macOS, Windows, or Linux and use directly in design applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch, Figma, Affinity Designer, and any other software that supports system fonts. The free tier includes over 2,000 icons across three styles: Solid (filled, bold icons ideal for primary UI elements), Regular (lighter outlined icons for secondary actions), and Brands (logos for 500+ companies, services, and social platforms including GitHub, Twitter/X, Facebook, Google, Apple, and many more). Font Awesome 7 - released July 2025 - brings a major overhaul with redesigned core icons featuring more consistent key shapes, 300+ new icons in the initial release, improved performance with smaller font files using Brotli compression and modern CFF format, and square viewBox defaults for consistent sizing. The Pro version (paid) adds thousands more icons and additional style families including Sharp, Duotone, Sharp Duotone, Thin, and Light, plus themed icon packs like Chisel, Jelly, and Whiteboard.
